I just watched the movie 21 and the whole idea of counting cards caught my interest. So I was wondering if what they were doing in the movie was actually possible. Do you need a team to successfully count cards? And can anyone help teach me to count cards and some good tips if possible.
Also, can they really rough you up for counting cards if they catch you?

Team play is a way of counting cards with less chance of getting detected, at the time the that the mit team was playing, it was somewhat new, and it took casinos some time to catch on. You do not have to have a team to count cards, you can sit and play by yourself and still be successful, however casinos are very aware fo cards counting weather it be solo or as part of a team, and if they suspect you are card counting they will either ask you to no longer play blackjack, remove you from the casino if they are allowed to, or they will impose special rules upon your table to make your efforts useless, such as shuffling more often and placing betting restrictions on your spot. In the united states it is very unlikely you will be beaten by casino personel, and if you do, you are likely to find more profit from that than you are from your winnings at the tables.
Card counting requires a vast knowledg base to be successful, it is too much information to list here so go buy a good book, typically they can be found in the card and games section of bookstores.
There is information availabel online but books are quicker to refference to and contain more important tidbits that you may not easily find on the web.
A good websight to start from is
