Interwetten: A Pioneer in Sportsbetting Celebrated its 20th Anniversary

In 2010, Interwetten celebrates its 20-year-anniversary, a reason for great joy – not only with the Austrian betting provider but also with its customers, who are rewarded with great promotions.

It all started with a vision. In 1990, Wolfgang Fabian founded his own company and offered sports bets via telephone. Interwetten quickly developed into one of the world´s largest sports bets providers. With more than 100 employees and customers from more than 200 countries, Interwetten is one of the most successful players in the market today.

Interwetten means entertainment. Interwetten customers certainly get their money´s worth. A large offer of sports bets, casino and online skill games ensures pure entertainment.

One of the recipes for success: Since its founding the company has lead the way. As one of the first providers of sports bets, Interwetten already dared to go online in 1997 – one year before “Google Inc.” – with the website www.interwetten.com. In the course of the years the site was revised several times and with its latest relaunch in the spring of 2009 has remained one of the most modern, clearest and most dynamic betting websites on the market.

Always up to date with the new Live Centre
The new Live Centre, which has been online since February 2nd, is the newest highlight. It offers great innovations such as the Bet Conference, a two-columned display as well as a reminder function. Thus, the customer has the possibility to be right there without actually being there.

Bodog finishes top in New Year study

A study published last week by independent consultant Josh Apiafi has found Bodog to be the strongest online gaming brand on Google ahead of others including 888, Bet365, Betfair, Bwin, Ladbrokes, PaddyPower, PartyPoker, PokerStars and William Hill.

The research used the Google Alerts service and noted the number of articles generated daily throughout December containing the names of specific online gambling brands. Google Alerts is a service offered by the search engine giant that notifies users by e-mail or feed about pages published on the web containing words they may be tracking.

“When I saw this news pop up on the web, my New Year’s hangover cleared even before I finished my breakfast,” said Calvin Ayre, founder of the Bodog brand.

“We had a hunch since I first rolled out the Bodog brand and business model that we are considered interesting. But that’s only part of the story, we also stand for having fun and that’s what all people want, especially ones that gamble.

“Whether you’re into poker, blackjack, roulette or sports, people are looking for a thrill and all those companies trying to be all corporate are simply boring their own customers. It’s also why I don’t think online gaming companies should go public, the market expects you to be all corporate, which is boring so you end up losing your entertainment soul.

“The measurement method of this study is a very clever one too. Who can argue with Google? I am raising my glass now to another 15 years at the top.”
